circumstance and coincidence

This is one of my favorite photos that I think has ever been taken (please take into account I am one for hyperbole, but I think I am being serious here). This was taken backstage at Zac Posen's Fall/Winter 2008 collection that was actually the last collection for which I was working as a marketing intern. I loved the pom-pom Mickey Mouse ears and frilly skirts. But his photo is genius. It's like a real life Picasso; my brain doesn't really know what to make of it. It's just almost right, but not quite. And how glad are you that there was no red-eye function on the camera?! SO glad right? Me too. I wish I could get a copy of this that didn't have the magazine print all over it. But I am thankful for what I get, so thanks New York Magazine, for making your "Look" magazine... I think every year? You always get some really sweet photos, and this is one of the best!

Look at her no-makeup look in the second photo! So enviable. The crazy exaggerated cat-eye looks fun, but hard to get right - I imagine it has a lot to do with bone structure. And obviously the tattoos are beautiful, and probably my favorite part of the whole thing. Ash has been a favorite for a while, but he has never won any medals for having the "best" tattoos (ex. he has a DC tattoo, like the skate shoe brand). On the other hand, check out those feathers on Ross's hand, the giant wing on his chest, his right sleeve with jagged waves, and the crazy skeleton owl! It's stunning.

dear ms. swift,

i like you a lot more than i ever would suspect of myself. i think i like you because you did what anyone would do when kanye jumps on the stage, just take a step back and wait for his wonderfully kanye-centric antics to cease (because who are we kidding? i love you kanye, but that was about YOU more than it was about beyonce. does anyone even remember that her video was the whole point of getting up on that stage? nope, and therefore, your message was lost in your celebrity), but i also like that you frequently wear your hair curly, and you favor "sparkly" as the only way to ever describe what you are wearing. even here in this feature in the New York Times Style Magazine where you get to wear crystal-curtains prada, kickin' chanel, nice pigtails, omg burberry jacket, another killer givency wedge, and really pull it off. it's in the spirit of your style mantra, but it also feels like you are just playing dress-up. i like that. i think that is in the true spirit of fashion - let's play dress up. so yup yup, just wanted to let you know, keep doin' what you're doin'.

best,

me

p.s. if you got to keep anything from this editorial, and you want to pass it on to me, i would be more than happy to make room for it in my closet.
